A Memorial For Anna - My Great-Grandmother
This is a memorial that was built by burial duty inmates on Hart Island, Potter's Field, NY to remember the dead buried there.
"Then Judas, which had betrayed Him, saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests ... and they took counsel, and bought with them the potters field to bury strangers in." Matthew 27:3-8
Go here to leave virtual flowers for Anna.

Anna Monaco's Ship Manifests
Anna Monaco Campolongo, my Great-grandmother came over to the U.S. for the first time in 1902. She was pregnant with her daughter Carmela and she had her two children Maria and Ida with her on the voyage. They returned to Naples soon after where Carmela was born.
Anna Monaco Campolongo
This is the death certificate of my Great-Grandmother, Anna Monaco. She was born in March 8, 1857 in Caserta, Italy. My dear cousin Ann who knew Anna Monaco when she lived with her family, is giving me more information about her. Due to rough ecomonic times in the years following the Great Depression, Anna Monaco died in the Manhattan State Hospital on Ward's Island, NY and subsequently buried in a "Potter's Field" of the city of NY. According to my cousin Ann, Anna was a petite woman who loved to tell all her Grandchildren little stories. Maybe I can get her to share some of them for another post...
